“What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal.” – Albert Pike
As a Charitable Organization, Justice-Columbia Lodge No. 3 provides several grants, preferably to charities and organizations within our local communities, whose missions align with one or more tenets of our order; brotherly love, relief, and truth.
- Brotherly Love: The qualities of kindness, understanding, tolerance and respect for the opinions of others
- Relief: Charitable giving and activities to assist the welfare of Freemasons and the community as a whole
- Truth: Aiming for a high moral standard
These grantees have, in turn, provided important benefits to the local community including assisting families in crisis, our Military, coats for local school children, and continuing education. By providing these grants, our Lodge aspires to help its fellow man, and to faithfully uphold our guiding principal of Relief.
There is no requirement for a recipient of a grant to publicly recognize the Lodge for its contribution. Recognition has been provided by several recipients over the years, including in printed materials, invitations to organizational functions, and a letter of thanks from the recipient.
We, as Masons, carry within us the desire to provide our fellow man with deeper charitable assistance. The desire to extend a helping hand, good counsel, and fostering a greater sense of community and brotherhood goes hand in hand with our ability to provide financial assistance to organizations whose mission incorporates these ideals.
While these grants are invaluable in assisting our communities, it should be noted that each individual member of our Lodge, through their own passion and zeal, is likely already involved in social and moral growth within their own communities. We can be seen serving at Lodge-sponsored events during local festivals, sponsoring infrastructure and local community events, donating time to local Hospitals such as the VA Hospital, and ensuring we are capturing the essence of our nature as Masons.
If you are a member of an organization in the DC Metropolitan area, and you believe its mission aligns with the tenets of Masonry, fill out our Grant Request Form and submit it to email@example.com.
