Is Freemasonry a religion?

No. Freemasonry requires a belief in a Supreme Being but is not a religion and does not replace faith or worship. Masons of every faith are welcome.

How do I become a member?

We do not solicit membership. Men of good character who are at least 18 and hold a belief in a Supreme Being may request information through our Path to Membership page. The process begins with a petition and is concluded through investigation and ballot.

Can I visit your lodge?

Visiting Masons should contact the Secretary in advance with credentials and home lodge information. See our events calendar for public-friendly activities open to non-Masons as well.

What are the dues, and what do they cover?

Annual dues support lodge operations, the Grand Lodge of Washington D.C. per-capita assessment, and our charitable programs. Contact the Secretary for current dues information.

Where and when does the lodge meet?

Justice-Columbia Lodge No. 3 meets at the Masonic Temple in Washington, D.C. Meeting dates and times are listed on our events page. Stated Communications are held monthly during the regular season.

What happens at a lodge meeting?

Stated Communications include lodge business, ballot on petitions, degree work, and fellowship. All business is conducted per the laws of the Grand Lodge of Washington D.C.

Is there a dress code?

Business attire is the standard expectation at Stated Communications. Specific degree work may require additional dress guidance communicated in advance.
